Is It Time to Replace Your Shingle Roof?

If you notice any of these common warning signs, contact us for a no-obligation inspection.

Missing or Curling Shingles

Your roof may need replacing before further damage occurs. If your roof is over 15 years old, it’s time to consider a replacement.

Sagging Roof

A sagging or uneven roofline could mean serious underlying damage—don't wait to replace it.

Storm Damaged Roof

Has your roof had repeated repairs due to storm damage? A full shingle roof replacement might be the most cost-effective solution.

Constant Repairs

A roof that requires constant repairs is often a sign that it needs to be replaced, which is more cost-effective than temporary fixes.

Shingle Types Comparison

Not all shingles are created equal. Understanding the differences helps you make an informed decision for your home.

REVMA recommends architectural shingles for most NYC-area homes due to their superior wind resistance and longevity. Compare with metal roofing or slate for even longer lifespans.

OUR INSTALLATION PROCESS

How We Replace Your Shingle Roof

Unlike contractors who cut corners with overlay installations, REVMA performs a complete tear-off on every project. This allows us to inspect the underlying structure, address hidden damage, and build your new roof on a solid foundation that will last for decades.

1

Complete Tear-Off & Disposal

We strip all existing shingles, underlayment, and flashing down to the bare deck. All debris is removed in dumpsters—your property stays clean throughout the project.

2

Deck Inspection & Repair

We thoroughly inspect the plywood decking for rot, water damage, and structural integrity. Any compromised sections are replaced with new OSB or plywood before proceeding.

3

Ice & Water Shield + Underlayment

Self-adhering ice and water shield is applied along eaves, valleys, and around penetrations. Synthetic underlayment covers the entire deck for a secondary waterproof barrier.

4

Shingle Installation & Finishing

GAF architectural shingles are installed using manufacturer-specified nailing patterns. New drip edge, step flashing, pipe boots, and ridge vents complete the system.

Why Choose GAF Shingles?

As a GAF certified installer, we recommend their Timberline HDZ shingles for most NYC-area homes.

GAF offers a limited lifetime warranty when installed by certified contractors.

130 MPH Wind Rating

Great Value

Premium protection without the premium price of slate or cedar.

Shingle Roofing FAQs

Shingle roofs are a popular roofing option made from individual overlapping pieces, typically made of asphalt, wood, or other materials, that provide a durable and weather-resistant covering for homes and buildings.

Asphalt shingle roofs are cost-effective, versatile, and come in a variety of colors and styles. They are also easy to install and provide good protection against the elements, offering a long lifespan and energy efficiency.

Shingle roofs typically last between 15 to 30 years, depending on the quality of the shingles and the climate in which they are installed. Regular maintenance can extend their lifespan.

Shingle roofs are generally durable and can withstand most weather conditions. However, they may be more vulnerable to high winds and hail compared to other roofing materials. Proper installation and regular maintenance help improve their durability.

There are several types of shingles, including asphalt, wood, slate, and fiberglass. Asphalt shingles are the most common and are known for their affordability, while wood and slate shingles offer a more natural, traditional look.

The cost of installing a shingle roof depends on various factors such as the size of the roof, the type of shingles, and the complexity of the installation.

If your shingle roof is leaking, it’s important to repair it as soon as possible to prevent further damage. Inspect the roof for damaged or missing shingles, and if you’re unable to find the source, contact a professional roofing contractor for assistance.
