Aluminum Gutters

Aluminum is the most commonly used material when replacing your gutters and downspouts. It’s available in many different colors and gauges.  Thinner aluminum will dent easily and won’t hold up in the long run.

Different gauges provide different levels of strength and durability. We always recommend using a gauge thickness of .032 for gutters and downspouts.

Another important factor is to make sure the aluminum has a kynar-coated finish.

A Kynar-coated finish refers to a type of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) coating that is applied to metals to provide a durable and long-lasting resistant surface. This finish provides protection against corrosion, environmental contaminants & UV exposure.

Copper gutters

Copper is a highly durable and corrosion-resistant metal commonly used in residential project applications including gutters, downspouts, chimney flashings, soffits, fascias, step flashings, counter flashing, and more.

Because of its longevity, sustainability, and classic appearance, copper remains a premium choice for high-end historic and modern architecture.

These outstanding qualities make it an exceptional choice for residential and commercial applications. Copper gutters also obtain a natural patina that develops over time, which creates a protective layer that enhances longevity and aesthetics even further.

Unlike other metals, copper requires minimal maintenance and withstands harsh weather conditions without deteriorating. Its malleability allows for precise fabrication, ensuring a seamless fit in complex designs.

Lead coated gutters

Lead coated copper combines the durability and workability of copper with the enhanced corrosion resistance of lead, making it a preferred material for high-end homes.

The lead coating provides a uniform, matte gray finish that weathers gracefully over time without developing the green patina of untreated copper. This makes it an excellent choice for luxury residences where a refined, consistent appearance is desired.

Dormers and cupolas often feature lead-coated copper cladding, adding both protection and a refined aesthetic. It can also be used for custom moldings, cornices, gutters, downspouts, and other decorative trim for your home.

Lead-coated copper offers superior longevity and blends well with slate, tile, and other premium roofing materials, ensuring both function and elegance in upscale construction.

Gutter Styles Explained

Here is some additional information on the different gutter styles you can use for your home.

K-Style Gutters

K-Style gutters are the most common type of gutters that you will see on residential homes. This style features a “K” shape on the front edge which often resembles the look of a crown molding.

K-style gutters have a larger water-carrying capacity compared to half-round gutters. Their shape allows for greater water flow making them ideal for areas that experience heavy rainfall.

Since K-style gutters have a flat back, they are installed directly to the fascia of your roof. The two most common sizes we install are 5″ and 6″.

Box Gutters

Box gutters are a popular type of rainwater drainage system used in both residential and commercial properties.

They are known for their modern square or rectangular shape; box gutters are often used in contemporary homes, where a more streamlined or hidden drainage system is desired.

Unlike traditional external gutters which are visible along the eaves of a home, box gutters are generally hidden within the design of your roof. The two most common sizes we install are 5″ and 6”.

Half Round Gutters

Half-Round gutters were often used in historic/older style homes; this gutter style offers a more elegant look than a traditional K-style gutter. The name comes from their rounded shape which often resembles half of a circular pipe.

They are favored for their timeless design and durability. Half round gutters feature a semicircular design with a curved lip.

The half circle shape results in the inner part of the gutter being entirely smooth; this helps with the flow of water and mitigates debris build up. The two most common sizes we install are 5″ and 6”.
