Chimney Flashing

Chimney flashing is one of the most important parts of protecting your home from water damage. It seals the area where the chimney meets the roof; this is a common place for leaks if not properly installed. Flashing around the base of the chimney usually includes step flashing and counter flashing, working together to prevent water from penetrating your roof decking. The proper way to install chimney flashing is to grind out a channel in the brick and/or stone; the copper or aluminum flashing should rise 4 to 8 inches on all four sides of the chimney.

This will create a strong, watertight seal that can expand and contract with the home over time. Chimney flashing is a vital component of any roofing system and is a critical safeguard against water intrusion and long-term damage. Investing in the proper installation and quality materials ensures your roof stays durable and protected for years to come.
